Porsche Cayenne Parts
The Porsche Cayenne made its debut in the market as one of the best, performance SUVs on the market. It was praised by both Porsche fans and reviewers alike for its excellent handling, powerful engine and a multitude of extra accessories.
Engine and Performance
The original lineup consisted of a V8 engine, with a turbo-powered variant called the Cayenne Turbo. Later in the vehicle’s lifecycle, the VR6 and then a diesel-powered engine was added to the lineup.
The base model was powered by the VW 3.2L or VR7 engine that produced 250 PS. The unique intake manifold may add some horses to the Cayenne, but otherwise, it was almost identical to the standard VW engine in other SUVs. However, with 0-100 km/h at 9.3 seconds, and the option of a manual transmission and later Triptronic S, made it a worthy competitor in this segment.
The Turbo and Turbo S
The first-generation Cayenne Turbo 995 came equipped with a 450 PS engine that could go from 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. Later in 2006, the Turbo S variant was introduced which competed directly with the Mercedes ML 63 AMG.
The Turbo and Turbo S came with a locking differential, height adjustment, low range case and off-road suspension. However, the twin-turbo variant came with a 4.5 L V8, producing 514 HP, with 0-100 in just 55 seconds!
Later in 2008 an undated Turbo model called the 957 was introduced with a 4.8-L engine. The vehicle was capable of 0-100 KMs, in 4.9 seconds. Also, revealed was the new Turbo with 550 hp capable of 0-100 KMs in just 4.7 seconds. The vehicle’s excellent braking was attributed to the special ceramic brakes.
The GTS Edition 3
In May 2009, Porsche introduced the limited edition GTS, of which only 1000 units were produced of which only a hundred were sold in the United States.
